The area of Monti is a historic, beautiful, charming part of of the city and one of the best places to stay in Rome for a first visit or a returning trip.
Located on the slopes of the Esquiline hill, one of the historic seven hills of Rome, Monti is close to the Colosseum and a perfect vantage point to explore the city.
The area itself is beautiful and atmospheric, the Colosseum is pretty much on your doorstep, you have great transport link to the rest of the city and you are close enough to the rest of the center to visit Rome on foot, yet detached enough from the busy area of Trevi and Spagna to get a relief from the maddening crowds.
I adore Monti and recommend it to all visitors to Rome as a fantastic place to stay: I am from Rome, I have family in Rome and if budget allowed, I would very much get a place in Monti – so you see, when I say I know it and I love it, I really mean it!

Doubletree Monti
The Hilton DoubleTree Monti is one of my favorite hotels in Rome for locations, rooms and overall feel.
The hotel is located just beside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in a quiet yet well served square, it has a large and spacious lobby, good rooms including interconnecting ones for families and a fabulous rooftop terrace for evening drinks.
The hotel is part of the Hilton family and has an upscale, international feel. Services and facilities include non smoking rooms, free wi-fi, restaurant on site, bar, fitness center, 24 hour front desk, and accessible rooms.
Thanks to the location and variety of rooms available the hotel is suitable for all types of travelers, from business visitors to families with kids.

Fifteen Keys
The Fifteen Keys is an adorable boutique hotel in stunning Via Urbana, one of the historic, most beautiful and famous streets in Rome, in the heart of the Monti district.
The hotel is spotless, the rooms have functional yet pretty decor, and the atmosphere is homely, welcoming and upscale, with great staff available 24/7 at reception.
Rooms have air conditioning, free wi-fi, there are facilities for disabled guests, a breakfast service and the option of booking pick up from the airport. The atmosphere is intimate and romantic and especially suited to a couple’s stay.

Boutique Hotel Nerva
The Boutique hotel Nerva is a great 4 star hotel in Monti, in a stunning location immediately beyond Trajans’ Forum, a stone throw from the Colosseum.
The hotel has a modern yet welcoming decor, with muted colors and bright accents, it has rooms for up to four people and bar and restaurant on site. Rooms have air conditioning and free wifi, airport shuttle service available on request and charged separately.
The hotel is lovely and intimate in feel and is perfect for all types of travelers including families, business travelers and couples. the location could not be more central and allows for easy walking to most Rome top attraction.

Palm Suites
The Palm Suites are stunning luxury suites located on one of the most sough after streets in Rome, a quite cobbled heaven just above the Colosseum.
The Suites are part of the luxury hotel Palazzo Manfredi, whose main headquarter is a few minutes down the road and they are an exceptional oasis of peace. The suites have sleeping and sitting areas, well equipped bathrooms, families such as coffee machine, minibar and microwave and have good air conditioning.
The decor is upscale and well curated, with classic elements mixed with colorful and almost colonial elements and the views from some of the suites outstanding.
An exceptional place to stay for luxury travelers.

Prassede Palace Hotel
Pressede Palace hotel is a great, 4 star hotel in Monti with an enviable location right beside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
The hotel has renovated rooms for up to three people (2 adults and a child), some with lovely views over the basilica. Facilities include air conditioning, free wi-fi, breakfast and restaurant on site and 24-h front desk. All rooms have a desk making the hotel very convenient for business travelers especially.
Termini station is a few minutes from here on foot, the Colosseum only a short walk from the hotel, about 10 minutes on foot.

NH Collection Fori Imperiali
Hotel NH Collection Fori Imperiali is a great luxury address in Rome’s Monti district and has something social: a location right in front of Trajan’s Forum with allows it to boats incredible views on the Imperial ruins and Rome’s famous Vittoriano.
The hotel has a contemporary design and international feel, rooms for up to three people (two adults and the child) and a stunning terrace restaurants called Orto Bistrot, from where you can enjoy exceptional views of the city.

FH 55 Grand Hotel Palatino
Grand Hotel Palatino is a pleasant, large hotel on Via Cavour, the main road crossing the Monti district, only a few minute walk from the Colosseum and just around the corner from the pretty cobbled streets of this area.
The location is super convenient and while the access from a big road may seem off-putting, it comes with the notable advantage of being exceptionally close to the metro stop and bus lines.
The hotel has nice rooms for up to 6 people (family room) and stands out for a great breakfast buffet in international style. In terms of facilities, the hotel offers free wi-fi, air conditioning, it has a fitness center, restaurant on site and 24-h front desk.
The style of decor is modern, with some rooms more recently renovated in bright, welcoming colors.
