The area of Monti teems with restaurants, ranging from casual eaties for a quick bite of pizza to traditional trattorieas and international restaurants.
The area sees a lot of tourism and, to an extent, this affects prices and quality; however, there are many good places to eat in Monti and the area is so pretty and pleasant for an evening out, it is one of my favorite for a night out in Rome!

Cuoco e Camicia – restaurant
Cuoco e Camicia is beautiful, refined restaurants in a typical cobbled streets close to the Colosseum.
The atmosphere is upscale yet relaxed and the plates assembled and presented with care, with options ranging from more traditional to experimental. Delicious desserts too.
This is a great address also for a special occasion. Reservations possible via their website.

Taverna Romana – restaurant
Taverna Romana is an informal, traditional and pleasant Rome trattoria to taste the staples of Roman cuisine.
The place is busy due to the proximity to the Colosseum but quality is good and the atmosphere and service welcoming. I recommend making a reservation on the phone or in person, by passing by the day before or so.

Pizza della Madonna dei Monti – take out pizza and suppli’
Pizza della Madonna dei Monti is great take out pizza and suppli place perfect for a quick lunch to enjoy at the few tables available outside or to take out. Pizza is sold by weigh all day long: no reservations, this is a quick in / quick out place.
Delicious, very Roman and an excellent place for an inexpensive meal near the Colosseum.

La Taverna dei Monti – restaurant
La Taverna dei Monti excellent and popular traditional trattoria in Monti, ideal to taste Rome staples (carbonara, cacio e pepe, lamb…). Good value for money especially considering the prime location: the restaurant is one one of the prettiest corners of the city!

Temakinho Japanese-Brazilian fusion restaurant
Temakino is a fun, colorful, tasty brazilian- Japanese fusion restaurant, perfect for when you need a break from Italian cuisine.
Located on pretty Via dei Serpenti, the places has colorful, imaginative decor and is perfect for lunch or dinner with friends or a drink with tapas of international flare. Reservations usually not required for lunch.

Maharaja – Indian restaurant
The Maharaja is a popular Indian restaurant in Monti and a bit of an institution in the area, since it’s been in business here for decades gathering loyal local clients as well as casual visitors.
The restaurant is indeed run by Indians and has nice atmosphere and is one of the best addresses for Indian food in the center. Online booking available from their website via contact form: recommended for dinner, usually not needed for lunch.

Fuorinorma – quick eats
Fuorinorma is a great little place for lunch or aperitivo, with sandwiches (try the porchetta one!), platters, beer and wine, ideal for a quick informal bite or take out lunch.

T&C burger lab (quick eats)
T&C burger lab is a great address in Monti for a juicy burger and fries. A small place with few tables, stools and and take away options is perfect for a quick tasty meal when you need a break from traditional Rome staples.

La Nuova Piazzetta – restaurant
La Nuova Piazzetta is a very popular casual restaurant in Monti, close to the Colosseum. The location close to the Colosseum and Forum makes it a popular tourist hangout and the dishes on the menu also focus on tried and tested staples but the quality is nice and the price is right, so this is a good address! Only issue is finding a table as unfortunately the line here can be long.

Fatamorgana Monti Gelato
One of the great pleasures of Monti is strolling and what better addition to a stroll than gelato? The best gelato in Monti in my opinion is Fatamorgana, which is also in the scenic location of Piazza degli Zingari, worth seeing even just for atmosphere.
