Short-term rentals and holiday apartments are fantastic accommodation options for families visiting Rome with kids, especially for those who have more than one of two children.
While there are family hotels in the city (see here >>> our favorite family hotels in Rome city center), finding rooms for 4+ people is not easy and the cost of quadruple rooms and interconnecting rooms is often so high, apartments often result in being a better deal.
As well as more space, apartments also come with the advantage of a kitchen and the opportunity to live the city a little more like locals, which is a great way to experience Rome as a real place and not just a tourism destination: Rome has a wonderful, hyper local soul!
Rome has a plethora of short-term rental options for families.
So many, in fact, that the quest for a great family apartment in Rome become overwhelming very quickly.

I am from Rome and, over the course of the years, we have come across wonderful holiday apartments in Rome for kids and parents: today we share our short list with you!.
For this list, I have focused only on very central areas that put you in beautiful, safe, well served and walkable areas, so you have the best of Rome on your doorstep. The areas I picked are Pantheon / Navona, Monti/Colosseo and Trevi, all excellent.

Domus Urbana 152 – fantastic family apartment in Monti for up to 6 guests
Domus Urbana 152 is a fabulous, modern apartment on one of the most significant and historic streets of Rome: Via Urbana in Monti.
The apartment is in a modern complex, so it mixes the historic charm of the area with what you want from comfortable and functional accommodation and can take up to 6 guests: the layout has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living area (with sofa bed) and kitchen.
The apartment is modern in decor and has handy amenities to families such as dishwasher and washing machine. The area has shops, restaurants, cafes and public transport (metro and bus) plus it puts you walking distance from the Colosseum, the train station and even a cute park for kids. Trianon Borgo Pio Aparthotel
Trianon Borgo Pio Aparthotel is a set of self catering, serviced apartment close to the Vatican and Castel Sant’Angelo, in the pretty area of Borgo Pio.
The apartments are part of a modern complex with 24/7 reception, cleaning service, fitness room and laundry facilities and so they fantastic if you want the convenient of the apartments but the reassuring support of hotel staff.
They range is size and can take up to 6 guests They are well equipped with self catering facilities for self cooking and also have a panoramic terrace on the top floor which is very much a nice to have! You can find here photos, info and prices
Palazzo Nari – great family apartment close to the Pantheon for up to 9 people
A fantastic holiday apartment in Rome’s Piazza Navona area for large families or groups of family and friends is Palazzo Nari.
Close to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, the apartment is in a fantastic location and is generous in size, it has lovely wooden floors, a fully equipped kitchen and nice touches for children such as kids’ cutlery, high chairs and socket covers for crawlers.
Facilities include:
- 4 bedrooms
- 3 bathrooms
- Fully equipped kitchen with oven and dishwasher
- Wooden floors
- 2 washing machines and dryer (a rarity in Rome!)
- Supermarket nearby
- Daily housekeeping / dry cleaning and additional service can be arranged for an extra charge.
This is my absolute favorite Rome area for visitors and this apartment is on a nice street striking the perfect balance between old Rome charge and convenience. The taxi rank of Torre Argentina and several buses are nearby.

Leonardo Suite Navona – three bedroom apartment close to Piazza Navona/ Pantheon
Leonardo Suite Navona is a 3 bedroom apartment in a brilliant location in Rome city center, walking distance from Piazza Navona/ Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, Jewish Ghetto and even Trastevere: absolutely perfect for sightseeing and services.
The apartment is family friendly, non smoking and offers:

‘Restart’ – 3 bedroom apartment in Rome Colosseum area
Restart Accommodation is an accommodation provider in Rome with several apartment including a great 3 bedroom one close to the Colosseum.
The area is local and well served with restaurants, supermarkets cafes and all you may need for a pleasant apartment stay, it is super close to the Colosseum and has easy access to bus, metro and taxi when needed. The apartment has many elements that make it perfect for families with kids, such as:

Domus Spagna Gregoriana Suites at the Spanish Steps
Gregoriana Suite is a lovely 2 bedroom apartment in a great location close to the Spanish Steps.
The suite is a two bedroom apartment housing up to 6 guests, it is walking distance from most of Rome’s top sites, it is in a. walkable and safe area and has easy access to metro, taxi and bus. The area is upscale in feel and offers access to all servies you may need

La Maisonnette Tritone Trevi Apartment Rome
La Maisonette Tritone is a compact but nice and well equipped apartment in a handy location close to the Trevi Fountain, yet away from the super busy streets immediately off the Trevi Piazza, walking distance from many attractions and close to bus, metro and taxis when needed.

Trevi Apartment: 2 bedroom apartment with 24h reception
Trevi apartment is a beautiful 2 bedroom / 5 guests apartment is Via degli Avignonesi, a historic cobbled street near via Veneto and the Trevi Fountain.
The location puts you within walking distance to attractions such as the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain but it is also served by metro stop Barberini.
Shops, cafes and restaurants are all on your doorstep.
Families include:
- 2 bedrooms (one with queen bed, one with twin beds)
- Additional sofa bed
- Kitchen with dishwasher
- Kids’ high chair and music/ dvds

Pantheon Domus Apartment: bedroom apartment close to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona (best for older kids)
The Pantheon Domus Apartment is a large and beautiful 2 bedroom aparment on Via di Torre Argentina, a lovely cobbled street in Rome city center leading you straight to the Pantheon.
The apartment is perfect if you want to be walking distance from Rome main attractions and it is has the Torre Argentina tax rank nearby as well as several trams and buses stopping nearby.
If your kids love cats, they’ll love to know the apartment is only a couple of minutes from Rome’s cat sanctuary (if you don’t like cats, don’t worry! You won’t run into them unless you want to!)
Apartment facilities include:
- Large apartments with 2 bedrooms and additional futon bed
- Additional sofa bed in the living area
- 3 bathrooms (of which 2 ensuite)
- Kitchen with dishwasher
- washing machine
- Flat screen TV
- Tiled/ parquet floors
- The host can arrange pick up form the airport for you
The apartment sleeps 9 and it is perfect for larger families and small family groups alike. Please note that there are steps inside the house that make it not suitable (or at least not ideal) for families with toddlers: please check photos for suitability. .
